Then we moved a few more blocks and wound up in Picadilly Circus. This is now like Times Square - very loud and vibrant with lots of street performers and artists. I personally found it a little bit overwhelming for the senses! Historically it serves as a meeting point in the city where they used to make the feather collars worn in the 1700s. More time to shop and then we will head to dinner in this same area.

Leicester Square and Picadilly Circus
We walked up a ways into Leicester (pronounce it Lester) Square. This is kind of like the Broadway area of NYC. In London this is called the West End area. We saw the half price ticket booth, the fountain which attracted quite a few puddle jumpers, and a fairly random statue of William Shakespeare. Also around the square was the Odean theater, which is where all major British movies premiere so celeb sightings aren't uncommon. We gave the kids half an hour here to shop.
