Tower of London

The Tower of London is actually a series of buildings built by William the Conqueror, who also built Windsor Castle where the royals still live and frequent. It was built in 1066 as a royal residence but also a prison as part of the whole complex. Many famous prisoners came here before they were eventually executed including Ann Boleyn.

The English poet Sir Walter Raleigh, for whom Raleigh NC is named, lived here for a time. Also housed here are the Crown Jewels which have a long wait. There is a great view of the Thames River and London Bridge (of London Bridge is falling down fame) alongside.

Chiara told us to look out for the ravens - legend says when the ravens leave the tower it means the end of the monarchy. So in true royal fashion - they broke the wings of the ravens so they couldn't fly!

We found a pretty cool looking guard standing outside a portion in what looks to be an official area.

The kids have time here to see either the torture chambers or the Crown Jewels.

I'll check in again at the end of our visit here!
