Montmartre

We got off the bus in the Montmartre area and headed up the hill through the crowds and souvenir shops up one steeet to the Funiculaire (cable car) which would take us up the biggest hill in Paris. It's a gazillion stairs so this was a wise use of a metro ticket! We were rewarded with some marvelous views of the city at the feet of the Sacré Coeur cathedral (orthodox).

From the front of the church we headed Into Place du Tertre, the square full of cafes and artists and shops.
Time for snack even if we're going to dinner right after this :)

(Sorry no kid photos - they are all shopping!)

While we were waiting for the meetup I helped a few kids bargain for some Eiffel Tower statues. They got a huge kick out of watching the process but the highlight was when the police came our way and in 2 seconds flat everything had been wrapped up in their blankets and the vendors were full speed away. But Brandon was lucky enough to find an extra Eiffel Tower statue that had been dropped in the hustle!

Then it was down the stairs, through the crowded streets and onto the Metro for dinner!
