Sagrada Familia

This cathedral was started in 1880s and Gaudi took over as architect and worked on it until his death (in 1926 by tram to correct what I posted earlier). He is buried inside. It is still unfinished and won't be done until 2026.

It has two facades, one if the life of Jesus and one of the death. It will have 18 spires when it is done, 12 for the apostles, 4 for the gospel writers one for Jesus and one for Mary. The tower for Jesus will be the largest and is still under construction. It has triangular arches for saints and on top are sculptures of fruit that represent the fruit of the spirit. On the front side there are lots if orange statues representing Jesus' birth and early life. On the back side there are statues representing the Passion of the Christ. It has a more modern feel as it was designed after the cubist movement took hold in France.

We did not go in but Lotte tells us it's not much to look at :). Here are a few pictures.
