Across the river is the Place de la Concorde which house the guillotine where Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were killed during the French Revolution with other members of the aristocracy
Many of the fashion houses like Chanel and Gucci are in the Opéra district behind Concorde.
There are two opera houses in Paris this one is the most famous. It was built by Garnier and is the scene of Phantom of the Opera.
Natalie Portman met her husband here filming Black Swan and lives her still. Also in this area are the famous department stores Galeries Lafayette and au Printemps.
Place Vendome is connected via Tue de la Paix, famous for dance shops and famous jewelers like Cartier and Tiffany's.
In the Place Vendome is a statue commemorating the battle of Austerlitz. Also in this square is the house where Chopin died, Chanel, and the Ritz Hotel where Proncess Diana stayed before she died. Coco Chanel also lived in the hotel and invented her signature perfume.
We exited out towards the Champs Wltsees at the Tuileries Gatden end which houses the Fashion Week shows.
Next up is Les Invalides which was a military vereran hospital and now houses the Museum of the Army. It also houses the tomb of Napolean.
We plan to get out here so more in a bit.
