Arrival at Mont St Michel

It is going to be hard to blog large chunks from here so it will be more photo essay style this morning!

We have arrived at the Mont, which is a common pilgrimage site after being built in the Middle Ages. The abbey up top
Is our destination through a beautiful medieval village with narrow streets and loads of steps. They will burn off their macarons today!

First we have to take a bus shuttle to the island which is no longer accessible by road to preserve the ecosystem. During high tide it becomes an island in the bay with the highest rides in Europe - 50 feet and coming in at the speed of a galloping horse.

More in a bit!
