Lunch in Ambroise

We drove through lots of little towns through the countryside. We have stopped in Amboise, another town on the Loire river.

Francois I also built a castle here -again starting as a medieval fortress and then embellished with Renaissance elements. The chateau overlooks the town and it is where Leonardo da Vinci was buried. There is some question of his corpse is still here or was removed during a world war.

Francois and Leonardo were fast friends to the point Francois called him papa. There is a museum here that houses many of Da Vincis inventions as he lived here the last few years of his life.

We stopped for free time to let the kids have some lunch. I spotted a few at a cafe on the main square and snapped a few photos. They are enjoying their independence so Mr. Waid and I decided to move further down and enjoy the traditional steak-frites just under the castle.
