By the time we got most of the kids up the small elevators to their rooms, it was just about time to bring them all back down for dinner at the hotel tonight.
In the meantime they had a lot of interesting conversations about the hotel bathroom bidet..
We had a large room off the lobby for dinner. The first course was farfalle pasta with zucchini and shrimp in a red sauce. What was unique was kids could have seconds of the pasta dish if they wanted. Then they brought out family style platters and bowls of roasted potatoes and breaded cod filets for the second course. Some described it as a giant fish stick. Dessert was chocolate mousse, which was light and airy and rich with its deep chocolate flavor.
Dinner took a lot longer since it was family service style, but we were fed well and it was plentiful. You can tell we are in Italy as time was definitely more relaxed. By the time we finished, it was just about time for bed checks!
Tomorrow is a packed day of exploring Venice. We will start with a ferry into Venice proper, then a walking tour with a local guide St Mark’s Square and the Grand Canal. From there it’s on to a gondola ride, the quintessential Venetian activity! Free time for a quick lunch, followed by visits to the islands of Murano and Burano. We will have a glass blowing demonstration in Murano then travel by water taxi again to Burano to see the cordial houses. The day is jam packed so don’t expect a lot of posting tomorrow until the evening! But don’t worry, know we are having fun!
